Growing Up Backwards
I chose the title of this almost immediately because that's the first thing that popped into my mind. I chose it because that's literally what i felt like after discovering that the average family does not operate the way my family does. I'm a Seventh Day Adventist, something i'd never deny.
If you are apart of this denomination then you can identify pretty easily with my statement. I legit grew up doing things backwards. Being Seventh Day Adventist, Friday nights partying or staying out late is a big NO NO. Trust Me. My Grandfather is the head deacon at his branch , and he is one to keep up appearances. We go to different churches though, I never really figured out why. My cousins and I knew the drill, get home before six, and be ready for worship after news then read the quarterly, for those who don't know a quarterly is like a study guide with bible stories and lesson verses that you're supposed to memorize in order to say it in Sabbath school.
I never really did that though. After reading it , we'd retire to bed for church the next day. Now my cousin has some stories to tell about her Friday night experiences, she's a real rebel. At church we're separated by age into different classes, and obviously the older kids were the cool kids, they were Cornerstone. I was still in primary, though i had my little clique, the big kids always looked cool. They sat at the back and chatted and laughed, ushers had to stand real close to them to keep them under control. Then after church they'd hang around and go to each other's houses for lunch etc.. then when they returned they'd play games after AY or they'd have pathfinder practice. I wasn't allowed to join pathfinder at the time, idk why. But i was on the choir though, we wore a red gown and everything.
I liked it at church for the most part, but anyway getting back to the point , going to church on a Saturday really cramps your style when you're trying to be worldly. I think because of how strict it is being SDA a lot of teens tend to stray, myself included but I wouldn't say I've strayed, i will admit that I don't go to church as religiously as i used to but i'm far from being an atheist or anything and i do try to keep the Sabbath holy. As best as I can. I haven't given up fully because the thing about being seventh day Adventist is that I don't think one can really stray away from it. It's embedded within.
Guys I totally went off track with this post, I didn't even stick to the topic but I like what I've written so I'm keeping it.
